Before we meet, I offer a free 10–15 minute phone call. This gives us a chance to say hello, for you to share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, and to cover any practical questions including arranging a regular day/time to meet.
After this call, I'll email you a client agreement (covering confidentiality, cancellations, and how we'll work together) along with a short intake form.
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and for you to decide if I am a good fit for what you are looking for. There is no pressure to share everything straight away. We can take our time to build a trusting relationship where you feel safe and supported.
I may ask a few more questions than usual, just to get a clearer picture of what's going on for you. I might also introduce some psychological measures or questionnaires which simply help us track how you're doing over time (and aren't a test to pass or fail!)
I work pluralistically, which means therapy is tailored to you, not to a fixed model or a one-size-fits-all process. There's no single 'right' way to do therapy, and different people benefit from different approaches at different times.
We'll spend some time exploring:
What you'd like to get out of therapy — your goals, hopes, and what 'better' might look like for you.
How you like to work — some people love structure, exercises to try at home, or reading and podcast recommendations between sessions. Others prefer to keep things entirely within the room and would rather not have homework. Both are completely fine.
Learning about your preferences early on means I can offer choices that genuinely fit, including approaches, tools, and pacing that align with your goals and actually resonate with you.
Practical Info
Sessions begin on the hour and last 50 minutes. I'll keep an eye on the time and gently let you know when we are approaching the final 5–10 minutes, so we can bring the session to a natural and unhurried close.
Online therapy is held on Google Meets, which you can use straight from your internet browser. You will just need to make sure you have a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable to speak openly.
If you're ready to take the next step, I'd love to hear from you. You can find details on booking a session and fees here.
